9 Most Bizarre Beauty Tips and Treatments

Latest Depilex DHA News Updates

In our age when people do anything for fashion and fame, researches on solutions for beauty problems have given us some bizarre beauty treatments and cosmetics. Here are some ten inventions of the
beauty industry which surely will make us feel creepy.

Bird Poop Facial is done in Japan with nightingale feces smeared on the face. The droppings which are sterilized and ground to fine powder are rich in amino acids and give a soft, beautiful shine to the face after application.

Snake massage sounds creepy, but you get soothing and calming curative effect for your muscles in an Israeli Spa with six non-poisonous snakes, small and big, placed on your back.

Butter massage is popular in Ethiopia for ladies to get their vaginal muscles tightened after delivery. The whole body, including the private parts, is covered with butter. Sitting on a toilet, with legs widely apart, and a smoke hole below the vagina, the woman gets all this butter melted and then she is heavily clad in blankets.

Portuguese urine therapy for tooth care was popular in ancient Rome. Believing that urea and ammonia in urine help to kill germs and fight gingivitis, the Romans imported Portuguese urine for teeth whitening and breathe freshening.

Snail slime cream is much utilized in beauty products. Land snails secrete mucus with an antioxidant that enhances tissue healing and protects against acne scars, sun damage, and skin aging.

Pig foot diet is marketed in New York as a treatment against wrinkles and skin sagging. Pigs’ feet contain collagen and eating it gives the same effect as using creams and injections rich in collagen.

The snake venom cream from Brazil comes from the idea that the neurotoxins in it block nerve impulses and induce paralysis. Snake farms in Brazil supplied the venom of cobras, vipers and some rattlesnakes to develop a synthetic version of the one which is used in the cream which blocks neuromuscular contractions.

Bovine placenta is used in a cream in Japan to slow down the visible aging signs. Being the tissue that connects fetus and mother, placenta is rich in nutrients and hormones and stimulates cell growth, moisturizes hair and combats wrinkles.

Fish Pedicure is popular in some Asian countries and also in the US. Select fish will chew off calluses and tough skin leaving you with smooth, soft and beautiful feet.

Though they sound bizarre, the fashion world adores such tricks in beauty industry.

DIY milk bath:

Ingredients:

4 cups of whole milk
1 cup of Epsom, sea salt, or pre-packaged bath salts
A capful of a bath oil (or several drops of an ESSENTIAL OIL)
Optional – honey, oats, seaweed, flower petals, herbs
Instructions:

Once you have filled the bathtub with warm water, pour the milk in.

Add the Epsom salt and gently stir.

Add the bath or essential oil and gently stir one more time.

Let all the ingredients soak together for about 15 minutes.

Light a candle, then get in the bath, sit back, and relax.

When you’re ready to get out, be sure to rinse with clean water to get any milky residue off of your body. You’ll be left feeling silky smooth and radiant!

How to make your own lip plumping lip gloss

Most women (at least the ones I know) like the idea of having nice full natural looking lips. Since store bought lip plumpers are usually pretty pricey, this homemade version not only works just
like a lip plumper should but it is super inexpensive to make yourself!

The secret ingredient that most of the expensive lip plumpers have in them is cinnamon oil. Cinnamon oil works by stimulating blood flow, which makes it the perfect (natural) lip-plumping agent. The more you add the more your lips will tingle and plump.

What you will need:
Clear unscented lip gloss
%100 pure cinnamon essential oil

Pour 7-8 drops of cinnamon oil into the bottle of clear lip gloss. Trust me, this stuff is powerful so you do not want to over do it. I am a total dummy and put the cinnamon oil on my lips without diluting it with the lip gloss because I was so impressed with how it plumped…ya do not do that.

Put the cap back on and make sure you evenly mix up the oil. Apply to your lips…and watch the plumping magic happen!

Redah’s Monday Blog:
Stretch marks:

The term “stretch mark” is actually a bit misleading. It’s a common belief that stretch marks are caused by skin stretching too quickly when people experience growth spurts, pregnancy, or weight gain. In reality, stretch mar
ks are caused by an increased level of hormones in the body. The combination of this hormone surge and the stretching of the skin that occurs with these changes is what really causes the marks to appear.

When the body goes through the physical changes of growing, becoming pregnant, or gaining weight, the production of glucocorticoids, a type of steroid hormone, swells significantly. Glucocorticoids prevent skin from creating more collagen and elastin fibers, which are a crucial element of firm, healthy skin. The decreased level of collagen and elastin causes a lack of support as the skin stretches and eventually causes the tissue of the dermis and epidermis to tear and thin. At this point, the marks are red or purple in color. As the skin heals itself, the collagen and elastin fibers do not align correctly and the marks appear white. How you treat stretch marks depends on whether they are still in the early stages (red) or have already healed (white).

For red or new stretch marks:

If you begin treating stretch marks while they’re still forming, you can improve their appearance as they heal. By using products that can help stimulate collagen and elastin production, you can limit the visible damage to the skin. There are a few topical ointments that you can try such as Mederma, a scar-reducing medication, and SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0, a non-prescription product with a high concentration of retinol. Retinol has been proven to stimulate collagen production and also helps exfoliate the skin. Do not use retinol products, however, if you are pregnant or nursing.

For older or white stretch marks:

Older stretch marks are much more difficult to work with. While many doctors say that nothing can be done about them, new studies show some good results with a combination of glycolic acid and retinol. In the morning, apply a cream with a high concentration of glycolic acid such as MD Formulations Hand and Body Crème. At night, go with a retinol formula like the SkinCeuticals option mentioned above. Using these products will not offer drastic changes, but you may see improvement after several months.

At the dermatologist’s office:

If your stretch marks are older and topical treatments do not seem to work, there are a few more advanced options you can try if money and time permit. Some microdermabrasion and laser procedures have been shown to be effective at reducing the appearance of stretch marks. However, some of these procedures are not appropriate for those who are pregnant or nursing and others are not recommended for people with darker skin tones. If you want to pursue these options, the best bet is to speak to your dermatologist. If your doctor doesn’t perform these procedures, he or she will recommend someone who does.

Here’s a rundown of the products available for stretch mark removal and what they can — and cannot — do:

Wheat germ oil: There is not much scientific data on whether home remedies for stretch marks, such as wheat germ oil, can help. One recent study did find it helped improve stretch marks in their early phase.

Glycolic acid: Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid. It most likely works on stretch marks by boosting collagen production, Baumann says. Glycolic acid can also be administered in higher doses by a dermatologist. Treatment typically costs around $100 and requires three or four office visits before results will appear.

Vitamin C: Certain formulations of vitamin C may also increase collagen production and help early-stage stretch marks, Baumann says. For maximum effect, combine with glycolic acid. Vitamin C supplements may also be effective. She suggests 500 milligrams three times a day.

Peptide-containing products: Peptide-containing products are widely marketed as “repair” creams and are a waste of time and money, Baumann says. Despite commercial claims, there is no convincing data that these work.

Retinoids: Retinoids have been shown to be fairly effective in increasing collagen and elastic production during the early stages. But you should avoid them if you’re pregnant or nursing. Retinol, tretinoin, and the prescription medications Differin, Renova, Retin-A, and Tazorac are examples of retinoids.

Glycolic acid plus retinoids: Using these together may provide better results. But again, retinoids aren’t used when you’re pregnant or nursing.

Laser treatment: This popular treatment option is used by many dermatologists, and they are also being tried on stretch marks, as well.
