IHC directs PEMRA to stop airing material against courts
ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority (PEMRA) to stop telecast of irreverent matter against courts and sought the document regarding code of ethics in this regard from the Information Ministry and PEMRA. IHC Justice Shaukat Siddiqui gave the direction while hearing a petition filed by Nadeem Ahmed advocate on Tuesday. The petitioner’s lawyer Akram Sheikh argued before the court regarding publication and telecast of mocking material against courts. After hearing the arguments, the court directed PEMRA and the Information Ministry to impose a ban on such matter and ordered both to provide the code of ethics for media on next hearing on October 15.
